listen_button-OPINION by Theron K. Cal, Managing Editor RBRN

BEFORE it was announced that CBS was reviving the Arsenio Hall Show its namesake host used to follow me on Twitter. We’d even go back and fourth and he’d accuse me of being militant.

Brothers and Sista’s insult Blacks who embrace our Black race and culture and reject the myth that Whites are superior as militant or pro-Black Nationalist, New Black Panther, Kill the Cracker babies type nuts.

Its their way of escaping their belief that their futures and successes in life are not determined by them but by the superior Whites who they look up to and wish they were.

Can we really blame Whites for wanting Blacks to think they’re superior and that they control our fate and not us? If Black Idiots don’t want to see the reality of how dumb White people really are or they’re too lazy to formulate an argument challenging the myth of White supremacy that’s nobody’s fault but their own.

Instead of join the debate and take a position either way Arsenio just dismissed me as militant and moved on to corny jokes that in essence were a waste of space.

Of course when it was announced that his show would come on the air last fall he curiously disappeared from Twitter and Facebook and no longer joined in debates or even idle chatter with me or anyone else he deemed militant.

I was pleased however, to get a placement of his 60 second commercial for his new show and faithfully played it each and every RBR Show at least once a day.

When the Arsenio Hall Show debuted it was obvious that Arsenio didn’t want to come across as militant because he strayed so far from anything even remotely approaching Black consciousness to the point that it was borderline coonish.

Arsenio: “I am not militant. Ask my racist bosses.”

In December of last year Rapper Producer Kenye West caused a stir when he offered Arsenio’s initial run at late night ended when the controversial Nation of Islam Leader, Minister Louis Farrakhan appeared on the show.  Hall denied Kenye’s claim.

What gave me and I’m sure other real brothers pause was how adamant Hall was, vicious in denouncing Kenye West’s claim as if Yessy wasn’t soon to marry the corny ass White girl Kim Kardashian.

Hall’s rebuttal to West’s claim was a profanity laced tirade that came off to me as doin’ to much to please the racists at CBS, saying, “That’s not what happened, so drop it.”

The first guest on the first night was Ice Cube. While I like Cube(he’s my favorite rapper of all time) he was not the right guest for Hall’s return.  Hall hadn’t deleted his Twitter account so I told him, you want the show to be more political and less entertainment oriented.

The reason I kept telling Hall to be more political(notice I said political not militant) is because one, to get respect you have to take a stand on something either way and two, you can’t simply sing and dance and shuffle(shuck & jive) and get any respect.

Arsenio said in pre-show interviews that his dream guest would be President Obama, what was he gonna do sing? No, you have to prove yourself worthy of a guest like that. Obama’s not gonna come on and let you clown him to show out for your racist bosses who hate him cause he’s Black.

Arsenio would say like all these Idiots- Roland Martin or Mo Kelly here in Los Angeles- when their shows or contracts were ended by racists who hired them under the promise that they’d convince Black people to turn against President Obama. Then when they realized Blacks aren’t buying it want to throw their Sellouts under the bus.

They all say, “They didn’t want us talking about race”. No, how in the hell is your Black ass gonna be on TV with a bunch of racists hate the President cause he’s Black and not talk about race? They’re setting you up to fail.

Had you let it all hang out(the truth) from day one then you establish credibility both with your audience and your racist bosses who talk all that yang about you advancing the myth of White supremacy but will fire you in a minute if your ratings suck cause the people know you’re lying to them.

Hall should have made the show political(again not militant) from the jump and cited John Stewart and Bill Maher as examples. Real Time and Politically Incorrect don’t have the biggest audiences but their bosses-even though White, racist and Conservative-wouldn’t dare cancel their shows.

NBC’s Brian Williams: Arsenio who?

The final nail in the coffin came when racist Brian Williams(lied about 500,000 Tea Party Nuts at the Glenn Beck Rally when all reports had it at less than 10,000) curiously left Arsenio Hall out of a montage of late night talk show hosts during a segment about Jimmy Fallon taking over for Jay Leno.

I posted on Facebook and Twitter BIG MISTAKE! You don’t give those racists power to legitimize or De-legitimize your show are you crazy? What if they decide we don’t need a Black late night Talk Show and you’ve given them power over your show like that?

Of course I was spot on with that one. The  racists at NBC probably didn’t even know Arsenio Hall existed and when he let them know how much their approval mattered to him it was only a matter of time before they shut his Black ass down.

The best move was to act as if you have a totally different audience then the White boys and leave it at that. The last thing you want to do is let them think you’re gunning for their audience while begging for their approval.

The tragedy is two fold. One, Arsenio never got to fulfill his promise of providing a Black political voice in the 100% White male dominated late night landscape. Two, future Black talk show hosts will think racists like Brian Williams will decide the fate of their shows.

Moving forward Conservative White executives get to tell the lie that there’s no audience for Black themed programming in late night.

With no lesson learned the next Black talk show host will be so watered down and lame nobody White or Black will watch(think Wayne Brady to the 18th Power).

Sadly Arsenio Hall will fade away back into obscurity thinking that a truly political show dealing with the topics and issues of the day would have been too militant, a far cry from the truth.

I hope that future Black late night talk show hosts take note that there is more than just one audience out there and the most under served one is the audience that wants to know the truth.

Those are my thoughts as usual, I invite yours.
