QUESTLOVE IS WRONG ABOUT HIP HOP BEING DEAD

Questlove

listen_button-OPINION by Theron K. Cal, Editor

Dr. Boyce Watkins a bitter self-hating wish he were White- thinks Whites are superior hates all things Black-Need2Grow posted an article by Questlove the front man and drummer for the Philadelphia based Hip Hop group The Roots.

In the piece Questlove muses at how Hip Hop has been watered-down is no longer relevant- Whites are superior Blacks are inferior yadda yadda yadda.

You can find it online if need be.

QL totally misses the point.  What happened to Hip Hop is what has happened to Society in general.

The HATRED of young Black males, of the Black Race and Culture as degenerate and inferior by the larger society means- that if you embrace that Black Race and Culture those that HATE and resent it-for no good reason-will attack you to no end affecting your revenue stream insuring your failure.

Indeed in HIP HOP as with ANY OTHER pursuit you MUST follow the MONEY.  The reality is, racist Whites and bousgie Black Phd’s and college professors are being PAID by the Heritage Foundation, Karl Rove’s Super Pak, MSNBC and other Conservative media organizations or corporations.

Every 20 years they say Hip Hop is Dead

With Billions of dollars to throw around these Corporations and Conservative Foundations can simply bury the lil’ guy who’s inclination may indeed be to celebrate the Black Race and Culture- reject the MYTH of White Supremacy- but when those millions are run under their nose and they smell the new hundred dollar bills, all bets are off.

We are being naive if we don’t realize the people who HATE the Black Race and Culture or as they call it, disagree- with the existence of a Black Race & Culture- will be the FIRST on the scene with a wheelbarrow full of money for the Black artists thinking of supporting Obama in an effort to get them to change their mind.

Do we really think Black artists set out to bash the hell outta America’s most accomplished President, lie about him not caring about Blacks or the poor, being a Muslim born in Kenya, killing Leprechauns with drones etc.

No, but at the end of the day money talks and David Ortiz with runners in scoring position walks. ~RB

Can we really blame Hip Hop artists who do what Quest Love did, find someone within the ninety-eight percent Conservative owned media like Jimmy Fallon- willing to pay big money to artists who embrace their Black Race and Culture without destroying it or advancing the myth of White Supremacy as a condition to be put on?

Instead of being stupid and not understanding that broke artists while loving Hip Hop, supporting Obama, strong Black communities and families are at the end of the day- BROKE FIRST and Black second.

When offered that kinda’ money- even if its to SELLOUT- they will do like Tavis Smiley and Dr. West did and take the loot.

Its more than hypocritical for successful artists to judge today’s Hip Hop artists on the fact they choose not to starve to death over preserving the sanctity of the genre.

Is it realistic to expect the financial needs of mostly young Black men to want while at the same time pay homage to the ROOTS of Hip Hop(pun intended)? I think not.

What we need to do is COMPETE with these racists, not dollar for dollar but at least something more than NOTHING. We owe it to them to at least see if they’ll take maybe a lil’ LESS in order to sleep better at night knowing they aren’t helping aid in their own destruction.

And finally, like it or not Black Culture did not end in 1986 with the formation of NWA. Black Culture is ongoing, ever changing and expanding.

We must stop this nonsense about Hip Hop being dead, incorporated into the mainstream, Whites are superior- the Malaysian plane is in Pherrell’s hat- its nonsense. Black Culture is EVERYTHING and all things Black, including some Blacks willing to take money to Sell Black Culture out.

Those are my thoughts as usual I invite yours.
