A source close to the situation told FORBES that the 3-year deal includes $24 million in compensation, with $16 million of that payment fully guaranteed. The terms of the contract have since been confirmed by multiple media entities.  The $16 million guaranteed may be the premium paid by the Redskins to keep Jackson away from an elongated period on the free agent market and within grasp of other potential suitors.

Am told by person close to negotiation DeSean’s $16M guarantee is ‘full’: skill and injury. Signing bonus, gteed salaries, wkout bonus.

Before being released from the Eagles, Jackson had been operating under a 5-year, $48.5 million contract signed in March 2012.  The contract’s base salary of $750,000 in 2012 quickly escalated to a base of $6.75 million in 2013.  The Eagles would have had to pay Jackson a base of $10.5 million had the team retained the explosive wide receiver for the 2014 season.  Worse for the Eagles would have been the salary cap hit of $12.75 million incurred if DeSean Jackson remained with the organization.

DeSean Jackson is represented by NFL Players Association Contract Advisor Joel Segal of Lagardère Unlimited for his team contract negotiations.  Jackson’s publicist is Denise White of EAG Sports Management.
