BREAKING NEWS: CNN, MSNBC AT ODDS?

BREAKING NEWS or HYPE?

by Theron K. Cal

Los Angeles, CA–Conservative owned media Tea Party siblings CNN and MSNBC are feuding over the liberal use of the Breaking News banner in regards to the missing Malaysian flight MH370.

The first salvo was fired by NBC Chief Correspondent,  Not my job to report the facts or the truth about Obamacare Chuck Todd who Tweeted; “Since when is it Breaking News that nothings been found?”

Todd goes on to offer if CNN continues to put the Breaking banner over segments that offer no breaking news, the negative effect will be felt by all the red headed step children vying to become Fox Lite.

That prompted a series of screen shots posted by a Producer at CNN of a number of MSNBC shows and hosts with the Breaking banner on their programs with the same; no news to report here theme.

For me the irony is none of their meager audience(even Fox lost half of its viewership when Obama was re-elected in 2012) cares about Breaking News as much as they do about how the Conservative owned media will find a way to pin this on President Obama and his failure of leadership.

“Can we find a way to blame Hillary for the missing jet so that Republicans can get a boost in the 2014 Midterm elections?”

In conclusion, as the media deals with the real possibility that the few people who aren’t watching Michigan State in the NCAA Tourney lose interest in this story–I’m contemplating a J.J Abrams type movie where the plane flies into the not too distant future and finds a media not owned by Conservatives but by people who actually report the facts and the truth–start to deal with the real issues of flight safety in an age of terrorism we will have taken a positive step foreword.

NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd publicly criticized CNN this week for its relentless use of the “breaking news” chyron on stories related to missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370.

“Another day of ‘breaking news’ based on finding nothing or in other words, ‘not breaking news,'” Todd, who also hosts MSNBC’s “Daily Rundown,” wrote on Twitter on Friday morning.

“I know it may look like I am casting stones while potentially living in a glass house. But the mistakes of one news org hurts ALL of us,” he wrote. “Then it becomes ‘the media’ is abusing ‘breaking news’ — no it’s not ‘the media’ in general.”  Click here to read more
