(Minneapolis) Friends and family along with millions of fans mourned the loss of musical Icon Prince with night long tributes at the First Avenue Club in downtown Minneapolis as well at his Paisley Park home. As the autopsy was being performed news broke that last weeks reported dehydration and flu like symptoms-that caused Prince’s private plane to make an emergency landing at Quad-City airport in Moline, Illinois-was due to an overdose.

Prince was reportedly found unresponsive on the plane but was revived at a local hospital. These were the same conditions on Thursday when Prince was found unresponsive on the elevator to his studio.

Celebrities sound off on the passing of Prince

Editors Note: I first saw Prince in the mid-eighties during the Purple Reign Tour while in college. I’m on record saying his was the best concert I ever saw in my life. I later was a regular at the Glam Slam in Los Angeles-one of a number of Night Clubs owned by Prince in the 90’s- and had the occasion of passing the Purple one as he was called, scurrying by with the ground breaking group TLC.

Prince owned a house East of the boardwalk in Venice Beach that stood out like a sore thumb because it was florescent purple. Prince is reported to have married but had no surviving children. “Do Me Baby” was the song playing when I got my first kiss. Prince will go down in history as one of the best of our time. Authorities reported a recent illness as the flu and dehydration. Prince was just two months shy of his 58th birthday in June.
